About Dr Martine Goergen

Dr. Martine Goergen is the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) CEO and a specialist in general visceral, vascular and thoracic surgery.

After training at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (1986-1992), she specialised in visceral surgery in Brussels, Madrid and Paris. She joined the CHL in 2001, where she actively contributed to the development of minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, the Obesity Clinic and hepatobiliary surgery.

From 2014 to 2017, she was head of the general surgery and urology department. She is also the author of numerous publications and a regular speaker at international conferences. Dr. Goergen is also a member of several international scientific societies and President of the Société de Chirurgie de Luxembourg.

She was Medical Director of the CHL from 2017 to 2024 before becoming its Chief Executive Officer. She is also Chairman of the Board of the INCCI (Institut National de Chirurgie Cardiaque et de Cardiologie Interventionnelle).
