DESCRIPTION:We are very pleased to invite you to the upcoming WIB GET TOGETHER  \n\n\n\nat GOLF-CLUB GRAND-DUCAL  \n\n\n\nfrom 12.15 am to 2.00 pm on September 30th\, 2025. \n\n\n\nOn this occasion\, we will be honoured to welcome \n\n\n\nMarguerite BARANKITSE \n\n\n\nBurundian humanitarian and peacebuilder \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nwho will address on \n\n\n\n“When a woman stands\, the world moves” \n\n\n\nQ & A to the “National Mum” of Burundi \n\n\n\nAbout Marguerite BARANKITSE  \n\n\n\nMarguerite “Maggy” Barankitse was born in 1957 in Ruyigi\, eastern Burundi.Orphaned by her father at age six\, she was raised in a home built on solidarity and inclusion. \n\n\n\nIn October 1993\, ethnic violence in Burundi led to a massacre she narrowly survived.Despite being Tutsi\, she risked her life to save 25 children\, hiding them from attackers.That traumatic moment became the catalyst for Maison Shalom\, that offers shelter\, education\, health care\, and dignity to orphans and vulnerable youth. \n\n\n\nTo date\, the organization has transformed the lives of over 50\,000 children. Its mission extends to sustainable development\, reconciliation\, and community healing. Maison Shalom is now based in Rwanda and celebrates 32 years of impact in 2025.Maggy emphasizes forgiveness over revenge\, and love over hate. \n\n\n\nShe has received 34 honors worldwide\, including two Burundian presidential medals. Notable awards include UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award (2005)\, Chirac Foundation Prize for Conflict Prevention (2011)\, Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity (2016). \n\n\n\nSeveral books detail her journey\, including Love Made Me an Inventor and La haine n’aura pas le dernier mot.  \n\n\n\nMaggy is often called the “National Mum” of Burundi for her maternal leadership. Her life is a testament to how one woman’s courage and compassion can heal a nation. She remains a global symbol of peacebuilding\, resilience\, and unconditional love. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs all our profits go to charities\, no refund will be proposed in case of cancellation.  \n\n\n\nWIB Get Together are members only events.
